A Spanish team, Marc and Feliciano López, conquers Barcelona 21 years later

Marc and Feliciano López finally managed to lift the coveted title at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, at home, the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899 and in front of their crowd. The Spaniards defeated the Pakistani Aisam-Ui-Haq Qureshi and the Dutchman Jean-Julien Rojer 7-6 (5), 6-4 (they were facing each other for the first time). “It’s the tournament that I really wanted to win. I’m very happy and I do not have enough words to describe how I feel” assured Marc López as soon as the match was over.

The first set was very even with the two teams trying to master all aspects of the game. With that equality the decisive tie break was played, where the Spaniards were more successful in the key moments to take the first set.

This has been their seventh final together and their third title after Roland Garros and Doha in 2016. Since the victory on the courts of the RCTB-1899 of Alberto Berasategui and Jordi Burillo in 1997, no Spanish couple managed to register their name as doubles champions of this tournament.
