Colombia joins the record book of the tournament with the victory of Cabal and Farah in doubles

Colombia for the first time is in the record book of the tournament. Santiago Giraldo was close to do it but fell to Kei Nishikori in the final of 2014, and today Juan Sebastián Cabal and Robert Farah achieved their purpose by ousting the No.2 seeds, the British Jamie Murray and the Brazilian Bruno Soares in one hour and 39 minutes by 6-4, 7-6.

Soares, who was champion in the 2013 edition, next to the Austrian Alexander Peya, was not been able to taste the victory again, (he was the only one of the four that had this title) even though all the forecasts pointed to his team, second seeds at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell.

The tennis was of very high quality with two of the best teams of the moment. Murray and Soares won the title in in Sydney and added 23 ATP titles. The Colombians, who have been together for five years, added their 13th victory, one of the most important after their Master 1000 Rome in 2018.

The final was a very close encounter. The champions won a total of 73 points in comparioson to 69 of their opponents.
