Banco Sabadell and the tournament sign a sponsorship renewal agreement for the 2021 edition

Banco Sabadell and the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899 have agreed to extend the sponsorship of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell – Trofeo Conde de Godó for another year. Thus, next year’s edition will be the fourteenth sponsored by the entity, since in 2008 it assumed the role of main sponsor of the tournament.

The new agreement is similar to the existing one and is extended for one more season. With this renewal, the Banco Sabadell’s presence as the main sponsor of the Barcelona tournament will have a duration of 14 years, the longest in the event’s history. With this extension, the excellent relationship between the RCTB-1899 and the Bank is revealed and allows the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell – Trofeo Conde de Godó to approach its 68th edition while remaining among the elite of clay-court tournaments, being one of the most traditional among the ATP 500.

For Banco Sabadell, maintaining the sponsorship in the current circumstances derived from the pandemic is an act of responsibility, the expression of its firm commitment to the city of Barcelona and its commitment to the tournament and the economic and business activity.

A sponsorship forged in difficult times

The extension now formalized occurs in a complex and uncertain situation also in the sports field as a result of the lockdown measures and restricted activities, adopted to deal with Covid-19. A context in which is still difficult to make certain predictions but which has not been an insurmountable obstacle for Banco Sabadell and the Real Club de Tenis de Barcelona-1899 to reach the sponsorship agreement now signed.

As happened in 2008, when the same entities negotiated a new main sponsor for the tournament and the circumstances were not favourable due to the difficulties of the economic scenario at that time, Banco Sabadell has considered a priority to transmit tranquillity to the organizers and stability to an event of maximum sporting relevance and which has proven to be an effective platform for the international projection of the city of Barcelona.
