A study recently prepared by the consultancy Burson Cohn & Wolfe (BCW) places the Catalan capital as the fourth in the world ranking of ‘Sports Cities’. As the study points out, “sport has a powerful ability to attract, engage and move people” and the cities that appear at the top of this ranking have demonstrated their leadership by organizing major international sporting events and hosting renowned professional team sports that they promote the name of the city week after week.

In the case of the city of Barcelona, ​​the organization of the ATP 500 Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell tournament has been a determining factor in climbing positions in the ranking to reach fourth position in 2021, just ahead of Paris. The image of Barcelona is associated throughout the world with the positive values ​​that sport transmits, especially due to the push of the Olympic Games organized in 1992.
