The assembly of the court of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell begins

Two years later the cranes re-entered the facilities of the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899 to start the assembly of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell. After the cancellation of last year’s edition due to the impact of the pandemic, this 2021 will be organized following all the safety and hygiene measures decreed by the authorities.

With the adaptation of the light poles on courts 6 and 7, which make up the Rafa Nadal court during the tournament, and the removal of crosiers, the transformation of the club into an ATP 500 tournament that will be played from April 17 to 25 has been inaugurated. The entire assembly operation will last four weeks and will be carried out in phases to affect the daily life of the RCTB-1899 members as little as possible. The Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell is one of the few tournaments on the ATP circuit that can be proud of hosting tennis throughout the year, something that tennis players greatly value when they come to play for the quality of the courts.

The first part of the transformation process is based on conditioning the courts and the different spaces to house the stands that will be built later. To do this, all permanent obstacles such as floodlights, water sources, hedges, fences and benches, among others, must be removed. Subsequently, the construction of the mobile stands of the courts will begin. As every year, the structure will be assembled by Nussli, a leading sports construction company and official supplier of the Olympic Games.

As of April 5, the circulation of Bosch i Gimpera street will also be cut and on April 17 that of Marqués de Mulhacén street. The Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell has the collaboration of the residents of Pedralbes, whose support is vital to make the tournament grow year after year to position it as one of the best ATP 500 on the circuit.
