Coming on strong!

The Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell – Trofeo Conde de Godó returns this year from April 16 to 24, 2022 strong and the organization is preparing an edition with many new features that will be revealed progressively. In compliance with this year’s motto “coming on strong“, the tournament incorporates the figure of Albert Gimeno into its structure to lead the communications strategy of an edition that will return to the dimensions it had before the impact of the pandemic. Starting in the coming weeks, the city of Barcelona will be breathing “tennis” with different actions and in April the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell will once again be the reference event in the country’s sports, social and business calendar. Gimeno will bring to the tournament his extensive career in the communication sector, with more than 25 years of professional ties with the Godó Group, -among other functions-. Following the line of recent years, the tournament will continue with its commitment to sustainability, with numerous projects that respect the environment, and will continue to be a reference in the field of solidarity in collaboration with the Barcelona Tennis Foundation. And all this will be done without forgetting the history and tradition that have forged the prestige of this tournament over the years and that in 2022 reaches its 69th edition.

The accreditation application process will begin in March

In this context, the organization of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell is working so that the media can return to the facilities of the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899 in person and without last year’s restrictions due to the pandemic. Xavier Gonzàlvez-Amat, RCTB-1899 Press Officer, is also managing the ATP 500 press area this year, after being part of the department for the last ten editions directed by Carlos Martín. Starting in March, the accreditation application process will be opened and all the details of the protocols and workspaces for the accredited media (written press, online, radio, television, and photographers) will be given. Information of the tennis players’ press conferences will also be available, which will once again be in person, as well as the mixed zone and one-on-one interviews.

A tournament leader in the digital field

When Tennium joined the organization of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell in 2021, the digitization and modernization of the tournament was marked as one of its main objectives. This area will be led by Irene Rodríguez and an ambitious project is being worked on that includes one of the most advanced mobile applications ever seen in a tennis tournament. The “fans” will be able to experience the tournament beyond the courts, in what will be a unique and very special experience. For its part, social networks will once again be the meeting point of reference for the entire digital community and fans will enjoy many surprises to enjoy intensely one of the most desired events of the year.
