The Greek tennis player (world No.4 of the ATP) confirms his participation in the next edition of a tournament in which he has been a finalist twice. The Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell this year will take place from April 16 to 24

World No.4 Stefanos Tsitsipas, has confirmed his participation in the 69th edition of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell – Trofeo Conde de Godó will take place from April 16 to 24 on the courts of the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899 . The Greek, current number four in the ATP ranking, will be one of the great favorites to lift the title in Barcelona, after being a finalist twice (2018 and 2021), both against Rafa Nadal. At 23 years old, Tsitsipas has reached 200 professional victories this week and is destined to dominate world tennis for the next few years.

“I am very happy to return to Barcelona, one of my favorite tournaments,” said Tsitsipas. Since he turned professional, the Greek has never missed an appointment to play in Barcelona. His game adapts beautifully to the clay courts of the RCTB-1899, where he has earned ten wins for three losses. Precisely, in his debut in 2018 he reached the final (the first of his career) and introduced himself to the world as one of the great racket talents at just 19 years old. In last year’s edition, he came very close to the title in an epic final against Rafa Nadal, which the Spaniard won in three sets and 3h38 of play: 6-4, 6-7(6), 7-5.

The Greek, a finalist at Roland Garros 2021, has seven titles to his name (18 finals), highlighting the 2019 Nitto ATP Finals and the 1,000 Masters in Monte Carlo last year. He is one of the most versatile players out there and his great performance on clay (three titles and eight finals) make him a very dangerous player on the RCTB-1899 courts.

Tickets to attend the tournament have been on sale since last December and can be purchased through the official website:
