Jannik Sinner, third Top-10 confirmed at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell

The Italian tennis player (ATP World No.10), semifinalist in last year’s edition, is one of the players with the greatest projection on the circuit at 20 years old

The Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell will feature the participation of at least three Top-10 players after Jannik Sinner has confirmed his presence on the courts of the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899. At 20 years old, current number 10 in the world, he is the youngest of the top 18 in the ranking and one of the tennis players with the greatest projection on the circuit. “I am very excited to be able to announce that I will return to Barcelona to play your tournament. I had a great time last year”, says the Italian tennis player.

Sinner shone in his debut last year in Barcelona, where he fell in the semifinals after losing to Stefanos Tstsipas 6-3, 6-3. “I really enjoyed myself both inside the club and out in the city and I’m really looking forward to meeting the fans again,” he says. And he adds that “I am very excited about the idea of being able to play for the first time in Barcelona in front of a full crowd”, referring to the increased capacity that there will be this year (normality will be restored).

At his young age, Sinner already has five titles to his name (Sofia (x2), Melbourne, Washington, and Antwerp) and has only lost one final at the Masters 1,000 in Miami last year. The Italian has an innate talent for this sport and his evolution is meteoric. In 2018 he got his first ATP point and in 2019 he was already among the top 100 in the world and won the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan. His unstoppable progression and his audacity when he steps on the court make him one of the favorites to lift the title on the RCTB-1899 courts.
