Banc Sabadell renews its commitment to the tournament
Banc Sabadell and the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899 agreed to extend the sponsorship of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell – Trofeo Conde de Godó for another year. Therefore, this year’s edition will be the fourteenth sponsored by the entity, since in 2008 it took on the role of main sponsor of the tournament.
The new agreement signed in 2022 follows the existing dynamics and is extended for one more season. With this renewal, the presence of Banco Sabadell as the main sponsor of the Barcelona tournament will have had a 14 year duration, the longest in the history of the event. Thus, the excellent relationship between the RCTB-1899 and the bank is highlighted and allows the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell – Trofeo Conde de Godó to face its 69th edition while remaining in the elite of clay court tournaments, being one of the greater traditions among the ATP 500.
Banc Sabadell, in an act of responsibility, maintains its sponsorship despite the current circumstances resulting from the pandemic. As happened in 2008, when the same stakeholders negotiated a new main sponsor for the tournament and the circumstances were not favorable either due to the difficulties of the economic scenario that existed at the time, Banco Sabadell considered it a priority to transmit tranquility to the organizers and stability to an event of maximum sporting relevance and which has proven to be an effective platform for the international projection of the city of Barcelona.
For the RCTB-1899, in the words of its president Jordi Cambra, “we are very happy to extend the alliance with Banco Sabadell to continue the line of growth that we have set for ourselves. The bank has always understood the philosophy of the tournament and therefore we have a great mutual responsibility to maintain the prestige and recognition for both.”
Josep Oliu, president of Banc Sabadell, has stated that “we feel identified with the values of tennis and we renew our confidence in this sponsorship for another year, just as we did even in the worst moments of the pandemic”. Oliu has also added that “these values, together with the tradition and national and international projection of the tournament, make this event an indispensable meeting point with society, clients and collaborators.”
Likewise, Xavier Pujol, CEO of the tournament celebrates the signing of the agreement: “this year we will return to normality with a modernized and safe tournament. As the dates get closer, we will inform you about the novelties.”
