The best tennis players in the world will meet again, one more year, at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell – Trofeo Conde de Godó, one of the tournaments with the greatest tradition and prestige on the ATP 500 calendar. This has been confirmed by David Ferrer, tournament director, announcing the official list of participants for this year’s edition, which will feature twelve of the top twenty in the ATP ranking and the cut will be at number 61.

The main star of the Barcelona team will be Rafa Nadal, twelve times champion of the tournament and current number three in the world, who this year has already won three titles, the Australian Open, the ATP 500 in Acapulco and the ATP 250 in Melbourne. The Majorcan has already won 21 Grand Slams and will step on the courts of the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899 as the player with the most “majors” in history. In addition, he will seek to continue expanding his extensive record, where he has collected 91 titles out of 129 finals played.

Nadal will face rivals who will not make it easy for him, such as Stefanos Tsitsipas (5th ATP), two time finalist in Barcelona (2018 and 2021). The Greek has established himself as a very versatile player, capable of performing at the highest level on clay, as evidenced by the final he played last year at Roland Garros or his title at the Masters 1,000 in Montecarlo. The Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell will also feature two more Top-10 players, Casper Ruud (8th ATP) and Hubert Hurkacz (10th ATP), two of the players with the greatest projection alongside with Jannik Sinner (11th ATP), who will also be at the RCTB -1899.

Precisely, the young stars will be one of the great attractions of this year’s edition and the player with outstanding progress, Carlos Alcaraz, will not miss the appointment. At 18 years old, he continues to shine in every tournament in which he participates and this year he has already won the ATP 500 in Rio de Janeiro, has reached the semifinals of Indian Wells and is ranked number 16 in the world.
