A high quality draw
Will the spectators of this Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell enjoy a duel between Stefanos Tsitsipas, against the increasingly acclaimed Carlos Alcaraz, in the quarterfinals? It is one of the succulent main dishes that could take place on the RCTB courts after the draw ceremony was completed, which included the help of Tommy Robredo to resolve the first competition matchups. Tsitsipas and Alcaraz still do not know the identity of their rivals in the second round, since they have a bye in the first round. In the same part of the draw, in which both the Greek tennis player like the Murcian, will give it their all to make great things on the Barcelona clay, such as Roberto Bautista, Alex de Miñaur, Federico Delbonis, Cameron Norrie and Grigor Dimitrov. On the same side of the competition there are also other Spanish players who do already know the names of their rivals, such as Pedro Martínez, Jaume Munar,Albert Ramos or Pablo Andújar who will begin their campaigns, respectively, against Ilya Ivashka, Arthur Rinderknech, Adrian Mannarino, and Ugo Humbert.
The Norwegian Casper Ruud, second favorite of the tournament, will be the rival to beat in the bottom half of the draw, in which he could face Felix Auger-Aliassime, Lorenzo Sonego or Diego Schwartzman. This will be the same part of the draw in which Alejandro Davidovich, Pablo Carreño,Tommy Robredo (who still don’t know their names of their first-round opponents) or Feliciano López, who will participate for the 21st time at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell and will face Emil Ruusuvuori in the first round.
Tommy Robredo will have to wait to know who he will play in the first round. This will be his last tournament as a professional. “I thought that my name was missing”, he commented between laughs, since his own chip number was one of the last to show during the draw ceremony, chaired by the tournament director, David Ferrer, the ATP Tour Manager, Arnau Brugues and ATP Supervisor, Carlos Sanches. David Ferrer himself, at the end of the cremony predicted that “there will be many very disputed matches, it is a very tough draw and surely the public will enjoy this great line-up, no one can miss it!”.
