Munar starts with victory in another sunny day

It has been the sixth time that Jaume Munar, RCTB tennis player, has participated in the main draw of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell and this time, as he did on four occasions, he has started the competition with victory alongside a very supportive crowd in his duel against Gian Marco Moroni. This time it was a full Rafa Nadal who wanted to witness a victory. Munar’s next opponent will be none other than the number 9 seed in the tournament, the Georgian Nikiloz Basilashvili.

Nicolás Álvarez was not lucky and fell to Brandon Nakashima. After a brilliant performance in the qualifying,  Álvarez, also an RCTB player, resisted as long as he could on the court, especially in a first set that escaped him in the tiebreak.

In other matches of the day, the Frenchman Benoit Paire, a regular face on the Barcelona clay, said goodbye after losing to Soonwoo Kwon, Argentine Federico Coria defeated Marcos Giron, Mackenzie Mcdonald did the same against Hugo Grenier and the Italian Lorenzo Musetti, in the opening match of the day,  beat Sebastian Baez. Elias Ymer and Egor Gerasimov, players from the qualifying, also successfully triumphed in their encounters advancing to the second round of the tournament.

On the other hand, in the doubles competition, Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski, Maximo González and Lloyd Harris advanced in the last doubles match of the day. Santiago González and Andres Molteni beat Horacio Zeballos and Marcel Granollers a RCTB player who reached the final in 2012 and 2016.
