Esportcat renews as sponsor of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell
The Secretaria General de l’Esport i de l’Activitat Física (SGEAF) reaffirms its support for the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell tournament, of which it will be a sponsor for the sixth year. The Catalan Government’s commitment to the Barcelona tournament has taken a step forward, which has resulted, particularly, in the creation of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell Sub-14, a circuit that has had the participation of 1,000 tennis players and that gives visibility to the young talents of Catalan tennis.
During the months of February and March, the finals of this circuit were played in Tarragona (CT Reus Monterols), Barcelona (CT La Salut), Girona (CT Girona) and Lleida (CT Lleida), from where the players who will compete in the final stage at the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899 (RCTB-1899) during the week of the ATP 500 tournament, where they will interact with professional players.
The U-14 circuit wants to be a reference space for Catalan grassroots tennis and is also part of the SGEAF’s commitment to promoting women’s sports. Parallel to the initiative was the Godó Family Days, a grassroots Catalan tennis festival in each province, where leading tennis players such as Marc López and Tommy Robredo shared the game with the young ones.
The General Secretary of Sport and Physical Activity, Anna Caula, highlights the importance of renewing the sponsorship “in the most important tennis tournament in the country and one of the most relevant in the world”. “We project the Catalonia brand internationally with our presence at this great event, an example of what we call circular sport, which reinforces the base, the elite athletes, the clubs and the rest of the agents of the sports system,” says Anna Caula. “We have our own label, a Catalan sports DNA that gives us prestige thanks to an extensive network of clubs such as RCTB-1899, a reference point in our house,” she concludes.
For his part, the president of the RCTB-1899, Jordi Cambra, assured that “we are proud to be able to promote Catalan tennis with initiatives such as holding the U-14 tournament with boys and girls from all provinces”.
During the tournament, the Secretaria General de l’Esport i de l’Activitat Física (SGEAF) will also have its own stand that will host the presentation of several tennis tournaments, such as the Tierras del Ebro Promises Tennis Circuit or the Red Cup International Junior Tournament, organized by the Club Tennis Tarragona. The different locations will also be the scene of meetings and gatherings of the SGEAF management team with entities and agents of the Catalan sports network.
