Banco Sabadell renews its commitment to the tournament for three more years
Banco Sabadell, the main sponsor of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell – Conde Godó Trophy since 2008, will continue to support the tournament for three more editions. Thus, the agreement reached between the bank and the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899 will extend the relationship to 17 years, the longest in the history of the event.
After some very complicated years due to the effects of the pandemic, Banco Sabadell has taken another step to renew its trust, provide stability and continue the growth of the tournament. This agreement demonstrates the excellent relationship between the RCTB-1899 and Banco Sabadell and allows the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell to face the 70th anniversary edition in 2023, remaining among the elite of clay court tournaments and being the great reference among the ATP 500. The 2023 edition will be held from 15 to 23 April on the courts of the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899 and tickets will go on sale from 30 November. In addition, the tournament will present new features in its image, with the incorporation of elements commemorating the 70th anniversary and new designs that will be used in the merchandising line that will be presented at a later date.
Banco Sabadell began its commitment to the tournament in 2008 in complicated circumstances due to the severe economic crisis and, given the difficulties experienced at that time, the bank considered it a priority to transmit tranquillity and stability to the organisers. In all these years, the tournament has established itself as an event of the highest sporting relevance and as a great platform for the international projection of the city of Barcelona.
For the RCTB-1899, in the words of its president Jordi Cambra, “extending the alliance with Banco Sabadell is great news for the tournament and will allow us to continue with the line of growth that we have set. After more than 14 years of relationship, both the bank and the tournament have integrated a work philosophy that goes in the same direction and that is key to keep us in the elite of the clay tournaments”.
Josep Oliu, president of Banco Sabadell, assures that “we feel identified with the values of tennis and, for this reason, we are renewing our confidence in this sponsorship for three more years”. Oliu stresses that “this is a tournament with national and international projection that has become a meeting point for Catalan society, customers and collaborators”.
Xavier Pujol, CEO of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell celebrates the extension of the agreement “we want to thank Banco Sabadell for its commitment to our tournament, which this year celebrates its 70th anniversary. This renewal is a fundamental boost to continue positioning the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell as one of the most prestigious on our circuit”.
