Andújar wins 10 consecutive matches in the Marbella and Villena challengers
Pablo Andújar, finalist of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell 2015, is on a roll. With his victory today in the challenger tournament of Villena he has already won 10 consecutive matches, a streak that takes him to his best form at the start of the season on clay. Today he defeated Pedro Martínez in a tough match played in terrible conditions of wind. The result: 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
The 33 year old tennis player, who four years ago played against Kei Nishikori in the final of the Real Club Tennis Barcelona tournament and reached his best ranking (32), has enjoyed two fantastic weeks, one in Marbella and one in Villena, achieving two very prestigious titles in the ATP Challenger circuit.
Starting tomorrow, in Marrakech, he will defend his victory of last year in the only Moroccan tournament of the circuit. In his debut he will meet Argentine Federico Delbonis and, should he win, he will then face one of the main favourites, the fifth seed, the German Philipp Kohlschreiber.
Andújar is number 70 in the world ranking at the moment. The sixth best Spanish tennis player according to that list, the disciple of Carlos Calderón will play the imminent Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, but taking part in the qualifying.
