The Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell will give Rafa Nadal a replica of the Conde de Godó trophy
Albert Agustí, president of the Real Club Tennis Barcelona-1899, and Javier Godó, Count of Godó, will travel next Monday to Manacor to give Rafael Nadal a silver replica of the Conde de Godó trophy for his 10 victories achieved at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell. Albert Costa, director of the tournament, and other directors of the organization will also be present at an historic reception that will serve to once again testify to the admiration that the tournament, the club and the Godó group have for the great Majorcan champion.
"We are very excited about this possibility that we have to deliver to Nadal in his own home a trophy that nobody better than him will know how to look at in his spectacular museum", said Agustí.
Nadal already has a replica of the impressive trophy since winning his first five tournaments, between 2005 and 2009, and in his museum there are 10 reproductions of the trophy in a smaller size corresponding to his 10 triumphs at the RCTB facilities. Now he will add this new major replica that credits something that no other tennis player has been able to achieve in his career. The Majorcan tennis player, currently number 1 in the world, has won 10 titles at Roland Garros, 10 at the Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo and of course 10 at the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell.
The manufacture of the trophy has been carried out by Soler Cabot Joyeros, whose predecessors were the ones who produced the first Conde de Godó trophy. It weighs 13 kilos and to be moved to Mallorca the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell has had to commission the creation of a box with a special armor to ensure that it arrives in perfect condition.
Nadal, who has just confirmed that he will be headlining the 66th edition of the tournament, is a living story of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell. He has played 13 times in the tournament and has registered 53 victories and only 3 defeats.
