Bautista equals in Sofia the 10 victories of Djokovic and De Miñaur
Roberto Bautista is on a roll and with his victory last night in the second round of the tournament in Sofia has already achieved his tenth victory of the season. The Spaniard added this victory against the Australian Matthew Ebden to the five achieved in Doha, where he was proclaimed champion of the tournament, and the four of the Australian Open, where Stefanos Tsitsipas stopped him in the quarterfinals.
The Spanish tennis player has already won 10 matches in just over a month. In the list of those who have won more victories in 2019 he equals no one less than Novak Djokovic, who he defeated in the semifinals of Doha, and the young Australian Alex de Miñaur, who has played a tournament more than the others and a Davis Cup match (victory against Bosnian Mirza Basic).
The only defeat for Bautista this year has been against Tsitsipas in Melbourne. Djokovic, number 1 in the world, has only lost the clash against the disciple of Pepe Vendrell and De Miñaur has two defeats, against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in Brisbane and Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open.
In Sofia the Spaniard is listed as the No.4 seed. After his victory over Ebden, he will face the winner of the match between Marton Fucsovics vs Yannick Maden in the quarterfinals.
The excellent results of Bautista in the beginning of this campaign have placed him provisionally in the fifth position of the Race to London, tied with Kei Nishikori. Djokovic is the leader and Nadal is the second classified.
