The tournament joins Rafa Nadal and Pau Gasol in "Red Cross responds"
The Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell joins the Spanish Red Cross and the Spanish sports stars Rafa Nadal and Pau Gasol in the solidarity initiative 'Red Cross Responds', which aims to raise a total of 11 million euros in the world of Spanish sports as a way to give back to the support given by the society to sport and help alleviate the consequences of the coronavirus.
The Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell has responded to the call of the institution and of the two historical athletes who intend to do their bit to contribute in this health crisis. The Red Cross has explained the broad lines of the campaign. "With this plan, the Red Cross intends to reduce the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic by adapting its services and regular activities, adopting new measures and supporting the public administration, to ensure the continuity of responses to the general population and, especially, to people in vulnerable situations ".
The president of the Real Club Tenis Barcelona, Jordi Cambra, organizer of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, has declared that “our support for this great initiative responds to our spirit of always being close to athletes and especially those who have always been close to our tournament, but mainly, it is the way to be together with the fans and the society in general before the call of an institution with which the club maintains a long collaborative tradition.”
After the cancellation of the celebration of the 2020 edition of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, the club has continued to promote initiatives to fight the pandemic and stand alongside its partners, fans and athletes in general. Consequently, the tournament has joined the Red Cross and the two athletes who are leading the 'Red Cross Responds' project with the aim of getting 11 million euros to help 1,350,000 people.
