Tournament website’s traffic increases by 19,5%

Traffic on the official Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell website has grown by 19,5% compared to last year, including 222,000 browsers from January to April 2014. During the four month period, the website was visited 349,229 times with 1,179,000 clicks on different pages. 

Host country Spain leads the ranking of most visits and is followed by Japan, native country of 2014 champion Kei Nishikori. Over 34,000 visitors came from Japan (almost 10%).

Nishikori was very surprised about the interest of his countrymen in the tournament: “Wow! Seriously?! There are many tennis fans in Japan but I would have never imagined that so many people from my country followed the tournament. It’s true that I’m very famous there. But people from Japan also love Barcelona. Everybody wants to visit the city. I think that the great result is a mix of the two things.”

The use of the official social networks of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell also increased heavily this year, including a growth on Instagram (50%), Twitter (29,9%) and Facebook (16%).
